The Brown Creeper (Certhia americana) is a North American songbird that forages for food in a very unique way. It starts at the base of the tree and hops its way up the trunk in search of small invertebrates. The bird often ascends in a spiral, and when it reaches the top, the creeper will fly down to the next tree. Bryan French photographed this one in Chester Bowl, Minnesota.
